The pichwai lotus is a legacy of the Indian culture and heritage. It has drawn endless inspiration and I too was inspired to create something intricate with the legendary and famous motif.
The color palette applied resembles the traditional colors in pink,orange and greens on white, though an enhanced combination of maroon, gold silver, grey and black have been added too.
The uniqueness here is that I have explored the surface, the entire art is done on upcycled paper which has been made with fabric off cuts. While the surface material is hand made paper, it has an element of the core material which is the textile.
The entire installation resonates with the design sense and language of my work. These are hand made by skilled drawing and painting artist .
The set of the different sized hoops can be put together for creating an essence and adding intricacy and are light in weight.
